Hey have any of you had one of those, if I had just had better focus, dof, color, etc... shots. Here is one of mine. Oh well...no Field & Stream cover this time... Van

Sometimes more of those than the good kind. LOL

ALL THE TIME...but sometimes even the ooops' shots work, in a way you wouldn't have expected. And, when you don't master an opportunity, it leaves you with a drive to try again and do better...I love the rush! Sorry..lol

Beautiful! Well done. Suddenly there's hope in all my blurry pictures. :)

This summer there were some blacktail bucks in our backyard (they're so plentiful around here they're almost a nuisace what with eating everything in the garden, dodging cars etc) and they're somewhat OK with people getting kinda close. It can be potentially dangerous in the fall, what with the 'rut' and a tendency for sharp antlery thingies to come rushing at you fairly quickly. But I digress...

I grabbed my 70-200 and went out in the yard and got close enough that their heads were filling the frame at 200mm. Brilliant shots, I thought. Wow, I'm going to be pleased with these, boy oh boy. I got inside and, after mocking my dad with his 35mm point-and-shoot, I looked down at the LCD which proceeded to read 'No CF card.'

There's a lesson here somewhere...

*laugh*

Good one Jimmy! How could you possibly manage that? The LCD shows you there is no card in! Oh yeah, I know, you probably managed it exactly the same way I did a few weeks ago when I took a series of great sunset photos while my card was left at home *laugh*

Since then I have learned my lesson too. I now have the custom function set that means no shutter release without the card in.

That still leaves me with the option though of going out to a location with the card still sitting in the card reader at home, or the battery in the charger though ;)

Thanks for the comments and reditions. I shot the deer at approx 300 yards through a spotting scope at 20x (approx. 2000mm) at approx. 7PM last August. I knew there would be potential motion problems since it was getting dark and I shot it at 1/30 sec. I have to get an adaptor for my scope and camera to hopefully eliminate some of the motion. Thanks for the fun. Van
