My ideal challenge would be pictures that capture the human soul and spirit.

Too often I see pictures of models. Models are paid to pose. The photographer merely arranges lights and composition but doesn't have to spend the time exploring the human soul.

The human soul can only truly be captured on film if the photographer invests the time to learn about personality of the subject.

So you're saying that models have no soul? ;)

Well...I am not sure I agree with this. Everyone is modeling, wether they are paid or not. I totally believe its possible to capture the essence of someone in a studio ....even if they are paid.

It's not our job to analyze the soul. It's our job to persude you to see something in a photo that makes you want to stare at it for long periods of time, or purchase a copy of it. Or, make you stop for a brief moment and ponder.

I'm not sure I agree either. I think a good photographer photographs so much more then the person. models are not always paid either, did you get paid to do your senior pictures. I think photography is an art form, and is centered around capturing the essence of a person.

Models have souls too. And, I rarely pay them to pose :-)
