Today, I tried to open some RAW files in CS2. ACR comes up, I do my adjustments, hit open. The reading Camera RAW ststus box comes up and finishes and then nothing. No document is shown on the screen, nothing in history. Just PS sitting there like I had just opened it.

Tried the same with a JPEG image, nada, nothing is opening.

What gives?

Interestingly enough a reboot fixed it, but PS is now acting like I just installed it. Everything went back to default.

maybe a corrupted preferences file then?

That would be my guess as well. Preference files get corrupted quite a bit with PS. You can also delete the preference file and restart PS. This fixes a lot of problems with PS.

What they said. Used to happen to me a lot on the old machine. Preferences gone haywire is my guess.

When you have all those Preferences reset, you should be able to back up that prefs file to another location, and copy it back in case this happens again.

If rebooting solved the problem initially, don't forget to send in your royalty payment to Dell.

This is a variation on the Bierce/Feline method -- today it would run afoul of PETA ...

Did you just install the auto-update this week? My Photoshop went a bit wonky after the update, but corrected itself once I restarted and opened a different image than I was working on before. Odd, but no problems now.

I think it may be the update as mine went funny too. When I opened it up it had returned back to the default layout and didn't remember any of my recently opened pics. It did however remember my custom keyboard shortcuts.

Weird.

i'm alright with PETA, i think. the lawyers tell me:

' go uninstall an application you use daily and reinstall it and see if you feel better '

might not run into so many SNAFU's in the long run... ;}

i'll refrain from threadjacking for the time being...
