I love the little speckles & sparkles this photographer has added to the image in post processing.. I think it's appropriate & fun for the type of image it's creating, but I don't know how to do it.. I've tried messing around with different paint brush options and mine look like I'm "tagging" the image.. It's a total mess.I'd appreciate anyone taking the time to look & see & let me know how to do it.. Thanks so much.

i'm not exactly sure, but if you tried cutting out these stars with the laso and having a small feather (px), itshould have about the same effect. |

They probably use any of several "brushes" already set up with the shape that they want to use.
Here's something for you to experiment with... create a layer above your image and set its blending mode to screen. Paint on that layer with black. Nothing will happen. Paint on it with white and you can see what you paint. So if you paint your shapes onto a screen-mode layer using white (or a light color) they will be visible. Meanwhile, you can turn the layer off and on without disturbing the underlying image.

brushes - you can set the flow rate to sprinkle them along following your mouse path, or paint them in there one at a time - set PS to change the color over time - there's lots of neat stuff the brushes can do for you.
I'd put them up on another layer, and add some glow, or transparency to make them more a part of the scene - these feel to "painted on" for my taste.

I found the exact brush that makes these and had no idea there were so many brushes to chose from. I took your advice and put them on a new layer and it's the exact effect I was looking for. Thank you so much !! |
