Woodpecker. They are loud, noisy and will let you know they are around. They love peanuts (nuts) and peanut butter will bring them to your feeder if your lucky enough to have them in your area.
I just like birds. Not really smart about them. They are so dependent on the weather, environment. We enjoy their beauty and they ask nothing of us in return. Okay I'm a sap. :) |

Thanks for the info, Justine! Right now we have three different woodpecker types in the yard, Acorn Woodpecker, this new Northern Flicker (looked it up with your help) and Redbellied Sapsucker. The last two were totally new to me, never seen either before this week. I'm a sap for them, too, known to all as the "Food Mommie". 8-)

Your bird pics may not make it to framed and hanging in the living room but they are more than adequate for identification. Here's a site I've used:

Looks like a Northern Flicker to me, one of if not the only ground feeding members of the woodpecker family |

LOL I'm laughing my head off.<@myself
------- Flicker/Flicka-------
THAT would be my Oklahoma language skills coming out.
LOL Such as Willow/Willa, Oil/Earl, Wash/warsh....
My mom is an Okie and that is how she talked, so I learned to pronounce some words with a twist.
Glad you found the information despite my 'write like I talk text'. |

Flicka is Swedish for "Friend" (feminine gender), hence the TV show My Friend, Flicka about a boy and his mare, a kind of equine "Lassie." |
