I've used the Windows Movie maker, but the cool effects are sparse.

I then used iMovie HD to make a slideshow, but when I imported my pictures into it, it converted them to a .mov and degraded the quality and hiked up the filesize.

Am I a retard and just don't know how to use it, or is an equally good (free) program to use?

ProShow Gold is awesome, but it won't work with Vista yet.

Cool, I'll check it out.

I should add that it doesn't matter if it's for XP or OS X.

What kind of trouble have you had?

I have Producer and haven't run into any problems under Vista yet... just wondering if I have but haven't noticed, or if I've yet to discover the problems?

Don't base the quality of the output on this youtube video.

Wowee! 250 big ones! Is the Demo version one of those 30 day trials? Do you know how limited the demo is compared to the full version? Is the demo version stocked enough to make it worthwhile?

Honestly the Proshow Gold is probably all I need...it's only about $70. I don't remember much about the demo though.

I don't know why the iMovie HD converted the .jpg to .mov I think that's why the quality decreased; as the .jpg quality is good.

Any way to stop it from converting?

Just won't install on Vista, here's the message I got from Photodex

"Greetings Frank,

Thank you for contacting Photodex. Unfortunately, at this time Windows
Vista is not a supported operating system for ProShow. We will be
releasing an update which is compatible, once we have been able able to
fully test the program on it. Please let me know if you need further
assistance or have additional questions.

Sincerely,

I have used MySlideShow for years and they have a good and inexpensive product. It has always done the job well and I happily recommend it.

I have no connection to the product or the sales, other than as a satisfied user.

I use Google's Picasa (free). It can also upload pics to a website and others can see slideshows remotely if you send them the link. These albums can be public or private.

Interesting... I wonder why the installer for Producer would be any different from the installer for Gold?

One thought... I may have run the installer with Admin privileges (because several installers that I have tried have needed it). Right click on the program and choose Run As Admin. See if that will fix it for you.
