I haven't been to NYC in 4 years, but lived there in 1983-84. Try J&R Music World. It used to be on Park Row, lower Manhattan, near Broadway, by the City Hall. Take Subway to City Hall or Canal, and walk south - look for Park Row. (Check the phone book first & make sure they're open & haven't moved.) Web page says phone # is 1-800-426-6027.
There's also a store on-line called Broadway Photo - I think it has a storefront - they have good prices, because of some gray-market goods. According to webpage, their # is 1-800-687-1740.
