Well, I have been on the DPC for going on a year and haven't seen a GTG for this area. I did a search on this forum topic, and it seems there's been a couple of attempts, but nothing to fruition. Is anyone game? |

I grew up in MSP/STP and may be able to make it back depending on your timing.

I'd be interested, I live in Red wing - about 50 mi se of St Paul, obviously depends on timing, etc.

Wow... what a response! Well I'm available, sadly to say, anytime. Winter vacations are over and the sailing season doesn't start until the beginning of May.
So what do you guys think? March end of winter get together? or April sort of beginning of spring? |

I'd go for end of March, beginning of April.

That works for me, possibly a Sat. then.
Is anyone O.K. with either one of these dates:
Sat. March 31st, 2007
Sat. April 7th, 2007
Still open for suggestions.

I can't do either of those. Given that it's nearly a six hour drive for me, I'm going to be pretty limited to times starting in mid-June when I get some vacation.

I'm game for April 7th, I'll be home from school for Easter break then. Let me know how this turns out, I'd be excited to make it out there.

Six hours?!?! It takes me a little less than 5 hours to drive to St. Paul from Milwaukee...

Misspoke, more like 5 hours as Sam says. My daughter points out to me that we're on spring break that week, so either of those are theoretically possible, barring other travel plans. March 31st would be tough though, because we'd leave Madison Saturday morning. Anyone up for Sunday April 1st? |

Well, I am extremely flexible as long as we do it on a weekend. Sat or Sun doesn't matter. However, if the majority can make on a certain date, I guess we should try to choose the date that would get the most attendance. As they say, the more the merrier! I hope that everyone can make it. April 7th seems like a fine day as any to me.
Possible photo ops:
Minneapolis - good skylines (especially at night), some good industrial & warehouse, sculpture garden, Basilica / St. Paul - Offers great architecture, State Capitol Building, St. Paul Cathederal, Como Zoo/Conservatory (Flower Gardens)
Many, many Parks. Some along the river offering good bird photo ops...
So much to shoot.. so little time.

April 7th is the only day that really works for me, otherwise I'm usually in Milwaukee at school.

Sundays are better for me. If we take a saturday I might be able to get away by 3:00. I don't drive but depend on the city busses. |

I did indeed get up to see the Trumpeter Swans, now that was something to see. As far as subject matter, I listed a view suggestions, but any help in that dept. is much appreciated.
If you got any ideas, please share!
Thanks for the response.
