Received our 30D from b&h in the mail late last night - WHOOH HOOH!!!
But now here is my dilemma. I am used to using RAWShooter essentials for my RAW conversion. I am playing with the DPP that came with the camera but I am not digging it nearly as much as the RSE program. I dont have CS but I'm using PS Elements so I dont have access to the Adobe RAW (at least that I can tell) which it looks like many of you are using. Can anyone share with me other options to RAW conversion without using DPP or dropping $600+ for CS? |

I find rawshooter essentials is decent enough, came free with a photog magazine. So i wouldn't be surprised if it was available to download for free. should add its made by pixmantec.

Adobe is cutting Elements owners a deal.Until Feb 25 CS2is available for $299.00.Upgrade to CS3 will probably cost about $150.00 according to the guy I spoke to at Adobe.

They are not updating RSE since Adobe bought them to use some of their technologies. I guess one of your options could be adobe lightroom.

I do love RSE but it doesnt read the 30D RAW files. I have been playing some with the Lightroom Beta and I can see how that could become addictive. But if I am not mistaken that is gonna be $2-300 as well. Goofing around more with the DPP I found the tool palette - but it doesnt have as many features as RSE. I also have PSE4 on my computer and upgraded the Camera Raw plugin so that it reads the 30D files but I do all my editing in PSE2. And though the price drop on CS sounds great - I just dropped a grand on the camera and funds are always tight. So basically I am just bucking change from the programs I know and love and I hate to adjust my personal workflow. Thanks for the suggestions anyone.
Maybe I can find someone willing to donate a copy of CS. Any volunteers? |
