I've not been here long but even I can see how much effort has gone into the WPL stuff. Good on ya for taking it this far even!
The human body is an odd thing that sometimes seems to do its best to work against us all, but you can also do some great things with it. Push yourself hard to make yourself get well, one step at a time. Do whatever helps, focus on whatever helps.

I just checked my email at 6:57PM. I only got the copies I sent to the Southern Gentleman/Scot, no reply yet. Yes I would like the spreadsheets. I would also love to keep you either as a partner or advisor if interested. Please respond.
I know you probably do have many other friends, and don't really know you, but I'm still hoping. Happy Valentines Day to all, (my wife's waiting with dinner.)

It sounds like you have a few offers already, but if anyone wants my help, just shout. I have web space and can "PHP" this thing to automate it a bit more. |

I feel very rejected by Scott, since after being very supportive and understanding, he just continues to not even a reply whatsoever. It makes me question what kind of a person he really is. In my emails I opened up my heart and tried to reveal similar past struggles in my own life, and offered the best encouragement I could. I have ideas that could benefit him and his situation and to even include his continued efforts if he wants it. I am dumbfounded as to why such treatment he doesn't even know me. I have received all "Copies of emails" and even included my Day/Evening emails for replying.
Even before your above quote I posted my sincere interest, I am an "anyone", too.

Seems that Kirkbic and Karmat opened a Ticket, I guess that means some private discussions by SC and Scott. Please allow me to share my ideas and Professional Programming/Consulting/Software Developer experiences of twenty plus years.

Hopefully I can explain a few things to you that will not make you feel rejected by me. I have been contacted by DPC concerning the WPL. We are talking via PM. The WPL was setup to give everyone here at DPC a fun team competition. And I for one can say that DPC has supported the WPL in everyway. Let me get through talking to DPC and then we will go from there. When I posted saying I would send the files I had not been contacted by the site council at that time.
No I have not been online very much because of V-Day and my wife and family purchased me a reliable computer. From about 4:00 till now I have been setting everything up. Still have the printer to setup tomorrow. New operating system and loading all my software took time.
So I'm sorry I have not contacted anyone back, but this is where we sit. I wish I could tell you more about DPC interest in the WPL but I don't have anymore information right now. Please give me time aswell as DPC and we will see where things go.
I know you have offered your services as well as a lot of other users and I greatly appriciate it. But I'm not trying to avoid anyone, just putting things in order right now.
I hope you understand.
Thanks,
Scott

Ease up a bit. It's only been a day. Back the sensitivity level down a hair and give the man room to breathe. Things will play out as they should, based on Scott's timeframe, not ours.

Southern Gentleman - Thanks for building the WPL to what it is today. It's too bad that this round was so short-lived. It is a great incentive for amateurs like me to get out there and experiment with themes and styles that they aren't used to.
Not sure about the other Motley Crew team members, but I plan to continue to shoot for each challenge as if it were for WPL points. Hopefully John or one of the other volunteers can jump in and take the reigns. you've done a great job and I don't think anyone here wants your efforts to come to such an inglorious end.
Best of luck. Stay warm.
- Brian

Will all good intentions ...
Can we keep the WPL4 moving?
I could determine whether my team won/lost withing 5 minutes. All I need
If each captain doesn't this and the competing captains agree than we can know the winners for week 1.
The basic outline of the tournament is the main ingredient that still exists.
We can create a makeshift results thread while Scott and the DPC site counsel or whoever are discussing.
Any thoughts?
Off I go to see whether my team won!

Scott,
You have helped to make DPC an even more fun and enjoyable place to spend my time, and WPL under your leadership made me feel a real member of this community, and for that I would like to say a big thank you. I can understand that this thing has grown to the point where you can no longer cope, and that you need to step back in order to take time for yourself. My thoughts are with you, and once again, thank you.
Hugs,
Sara. |

Metatate, are you suggesting that the captains figure their scores for the week and report to someone who can post them somewhere? Perhaps we can start a makeshift thread here for the time being. The schedule is already set, so we won't need to worry about that until it gets closer to playoffs.
I'm up for this if the other captains are, at least to keep this season alive until something solid is set-up.

IMHO, I would say continue to shoot as if the WPL was still active.
It can be retroactively updated at a late date.
WEEK - 3
Member Challenge: Street Photography
Exclusive Open Challenge: Love II
Exclusive Open Challenge: Hate
I think that some way it will continue, with or without my help.
Baco99, that is the exact reason that I joined, to get the benefit of an added incentive by being responsible to the team members. It also bring a member interaction on a more personal level, in the way of tutoring and sometimes just "talking". Also creates team spirit because of competition between the groups. It satisfies the human need of belonging if such a thing exists. There are even more benefits, but it is and should not be suitable for everyone.

What does "shoot for WPL just as if it were going on normally" mean?
How does shooting for WPL differ from just entering?
Do you simply mean you're committed to entering every challenge?

pretty much committed to entering as much as possible. for me, i find myself being much more careful in set up and meticulous when shooting when i know my score could help/hurt my team. if it is just for me, i tend to just enter. |

Each captain should figure the avg of the top 4 scores for his/her team as well as the competing team.
The 2 captains compare and if they agree, we'll know the winner.
If they disagree, then the world ends and we all burst into flames.
Teams can post their score here as a temporary fix ... justamistere and others can figure out a location for an organized place to display the results.

No, it doesn't differ from just entering. I just mean that team members shouldn't quit or abandon their teams, this seems more like just a temporary pause in the Team Tracking System. I can write a beta-version of a working Team Tracking System this weekend. I don't want to take anyone else's pet or reduce their involvement, without their consent.
Yes I'm committed to entering every challenge either way, it's just more fun being on a team. I mentioned some reasons already.

If you want to start a temporary thread, go for it Metatate.
If its formatted uniformly, I can extract the data, calculate, and create a web page from it.
Format example below, spelling and single-spaces count.
WEEK NUMBER: WEEK 1
TEAM NAME: d-Best
MEMBER-1: yadda 4.7815
MEMBER-2: dabba 4.7815
MEMBER-3: abba 4.7815
MEMBER-4: whome 4.7815
MEMBER-5: yesu 4.7815
MEMBER-6: yesss 4.7815
MEMBER-7: okbyme 4.7815

You'll have to excuse me for being a little dumb but the average is only the top 4 shots in the team, right?

Yes, but computers can verify (double-check) which are the top four.
Occasionally some do get disqualified and that can change things. |
