Wow - that was nice guys!

(Us men can wake up & walk out the door, but women need a little more time - they gotta 'slow down for the curve's!) ;)

Thanks for thinkin of us!

James - breakfast @ your house, 8 a.m., right? (I'm kidding! Don't you dare tell Christy to cook - I don't want to be killed walking in the door!) See you guys at 10 a.m.

My first GTG! I look forward to meeting everyone.

My 4yo has started T-Ball (oh what a hoot!) and they have practice on Saturday mornings at 10:15 for about an hour. I might be able to sneak out after that. I probably won't know until the last minute though. Soooooo, if I'm able to meet up with you guys later I'll call James (rex) and find out where you all are.

Well if anyone has anywhere they want to shoot in Atlanta let us know. I really have no plans to go no particular place. I think we were just going to wing.

I just wanted to let everyone know.

I know most attending are already familiar with the area, but this Downtown Map / Centennial Park might be helpful to someone...

Hey, I think it would be fun to go to Underground Atlanta! You know, everybody bring their biggest lens & brightest flashgun, & pretend we're all paparazzi... Run around with fake press passes, scaring the heck out of tourists & promising to make them a star!

Or, we could just get wasted by noon & take blurry pics of each other while shouting "No, dammit, YOU are the better photographer!" ;)

Bumping.

I was thinking Cenntennial Olympic Park..........then Underground...........then maybe Piedmont Park?

Is that the park close?
02/28/2007 08:48:21 AM · #38
Its not too far away, but not walking distance. It's about a 5 minute drive. There is some neat architecture near Underground and over toward the capitol building. There's also great opportunities for street stuff and candids along Peachtree, which is only a short walk from CNN. I'm up for any of it, and hopefully the new Nikon 12-24 f/4 will be here by then. Man I love new toys.

Wasted by noon it is!!

Piedmont Park is close, but not really within walking distance. But you can take the MARTA train north to the Midtown station and walk (4 blocks) from there.

I just figured we would wing it

Weather shows 50° and cloudy so we should be ok.

Underground is a bit of a hike from Centennial Park. We did that (in reverse) at our first GTG when we met at Underground and started shooting the Dragon*Con parade in Woodruff Park, working our way up Peachtree St to Centennial Park.

Going from the park to Underground will give us lots to shoot, though. All of downtown, the people in Woodruff Park, tourists at Underground. The Capitol building (and City Hall a block farther) is photogenic too, and is less than a ten-minute walk away (with the World of Coke and two antebellum churches along the way). From the Capitol, we'd take MARTA back to CNN Center ($1.75).

Piedmont Park is way too far to walk, but not too far to drive. MARTA is probably a better bet, though, since parking there is a bitch.

I still don't know if I'll have to work that day. And I won't know until Friday when my new furniture's being delivered on Saturday.

I got some stuff going on here in Augusta so I won't be making this one. Definitely looking forward to the next one. =0)

Still unsure if I'll be able to make it into the city that day but I'm hopeful. :)

Well we will wait until 10:30 or so then we are off. I do not have a list of all attendees so be there on time or if you are late just look for all the nerds with cameras. If anyone would like my cell number just in case pm me by tomorrow afternoon as I won;t be home after 3pm because we are staying in downtown Atlanta that night.
