I see so many great concept photos here, how do you guys come up with these concepts. I guess I am not very creative. I can't think of anything. Is there a book dedicated to that so maybe it is something I can learn.

can you give an example?

i doubt there are many books teaching you how to be creative. that's typically something that comes naturally i think.

think about this for a minute. what might make your cinnamon stick photo more interesting? as it is it's just a pile of sticks photographed in a pretty standard technically correct manner.

could you arrange them differently to add more dramma or appeal?

maybe putting them in a conceptual setting. cinnamon is a hot spice - maybe mix fire and the cinnamon sticks somehow. maybe mix melting ice with them for the opposite scenerio.

well that's sort of what i mean. you have to look at something, or think about a challenge topic in a manner that is both to a T derived from the topic and at the same isn't just a photo that the topic is asking for you to photograph.

for instance - in a macro challenge it's a given there are going to be close ups of flowers and water drops. if all you can think to photograph is a flower or a water drop, you must know your chances for a high score aren't great. so think about ways to make that photo more interesting than the rest. what if the flower is dead or the water drop is colored instead of clear. things like that.

here is a great thread from scalvert i just remembered that might help.

when I wanna shoot something, I walk thrue the supermarket, the living room, everywhere, connecting stuff that's not naturally connected, just like the pepper & zipper shot

I think you need a bit of creativity, yes. but there is a way to develop your creativity. a very hard story to tell, but it's got something to do with your right-brain. uh. yeah.
