I'm having a hard time finding a camera strap locally that has some give to it like with neoprene, and most importantly has quick release where if the strap was removed the buckles would hang with the least amount of slack.
Ideally I want the strap buckles to hang just a couple of inches.
any recommendations?
Will this one please me? tamrac boomerang |

I use the Optech Pro Strap, very comfy. As for the quick release system, I've rarely found a need to detach it, but those strap parts are about 4" long when fully attached to the cam (I think).

I recommend this one all the time -- but really - it rocks. The OP/Tech USA neoprene strap with gel-filling, keeps the neck cool, has a good bit of give so it bounces rather than digging into your neck, and has quick release buckles for those times you don't need the strap.
I have one on each of my cameras.

Not seen the gel-filled one before, looks good, might have to try one out next time I'm in a camera store... :o)

That's the one I use and I really like it. It's especially nice if you have a heavy lens on the camera, it really lightens up the load compared to the regular srap. It can feel a little bouncy if you're walking at a good pace though, but not a big deal. The memory card holders are convenient too. I was leary using them at first, but they hold tightly and have never opened unexpectedly. |

| That tamrac's nice, I have it. Its also nice that all of tamrac's quick releases are the same so you can easily switch to a hand strap if you'd like and like telehubbie said, the memory card holders are pretty convient. |
