now iv done a bit of research and read some articles about keyword and all
and i do have a domain name in mind but dont really know if it would be sussesfull so i want ur opinion
the name is www.cam-bray.com - or it could be .com.au it dosent matter ...both of them are avalible .
and the site i would be looking at putting on it would really just be a bit of a personal site ...with forum and chats and a bit of stuff about me and where im from ...so what do u guys think would that be great or not ?

If it's a personal site the domain isn't that important. Having said that though I don't particularly care for domains with "-" in them.

Having been developing websites since 2000 as my day job.

I encourage people to avoid the - unless it is strongly recognized in a logo. It does nothing but add confusion.

The other advice I give is to have an easily remembered domain. A lot of people think shorter is better. Often, this is not the case.

People will often struggle to remember which letter comes first in an abbreviation where as they'll usually retain common words.

For example, if you wanted a website on domain name and opinions. DNandO.com may be more difficult for people to remember than DomainNameOpinions.com

What few people realize is that it often costs very little to have both! In the case of my host it's a one time $50 fee for me to add a domain name.

So you could purchase both DNandO.com & DomainNameOpinions.com and have both sites point to the same location.

;)

thank you bery much for your advice...so i might think a bit better and come back with a nother idea and get back to yas
(p's thanks for the help i need it as much as i can get it as im a begginer )

so as u saying about the two domains pointing in the same direction...what about if the domain u got in mind is avalible as of
a .com - .com.au -.biz. .id - .net.au etc
so would it be wise to register them all and just point them all in the same direction ?

I used a hyphen because every conceivable form of my name had already been taken by a lawyer with the same name in the US. And it was either hephenate or cause even MORE confusion by using a domain name that had little to do with me. Anyhoo..

So cambray is a contraction of what I'm assuming is your name, Cameron Bray. Is this correct? If so, why not cameronbray.name?

yes it is correct and i didnt know u could have the extention of a .name
