I am sure everyone feels more strongly about their own shots then the rest of the community does. But I really had higher hopes for my shot than 515 out of 557. Is it too small or too creepy...Does it look contrived? I found it as is in a parking lot at work and couldn't resist the shot.

A couple observations: The crop/panoramic type orientation doesn't do anything for the shot and the buildings in the background are distracting and there is nothing to indicate you didn't put the head there. So while it seemed like a good opportunity for a unique, interesting image, the unique and interesting part was not really captured in the image.
I think when you come across a scene like this, you should shoot it from as many angles as possible and then see which one isolates and presents the scene the best. Don't know if that was possible, but it might have helped.
Hope that helps. |

I don't think it looks contrived, but compared to the remainder of the image, the dolls head is very small AND the image itself is not sizeable, making the focus of your photo quite difficult to stand out.
I'm not sure how many view points you took this from, but for my mind if it was high in a tree, I'd have gotten down quite low and shot up into the tree rather than through the tree and capture so much of the building in the background.
Hope this helps. |
