Not old, just old enough for all the fun things... LOL
I support us having challenges for the younger crowd. It's not a bad idea.

I support having a separate challenges for the kids all the time. Especially the real little ones that mom/dad are helping with editing since the rules say you must do your own editing |

then we should have an over 30s challenge ...
women only challenges ...
challenges for left handed photographers ...
american challenge ...
where does it all end?
LOL
personally, aside from member or non member challenges, going in this direction would be somewhat divisive.

It ends with the grand finale: the ART ROFLMAO ONLY challenge
I'm a shoe-in for the brown! :)
I'd support an under 18 challenge if I can use my fake ID. ;-) Kidding. I think it's a fine idea. |

well this is more so directed as an opposite of the Nude challenge where generally that restricts to our older members only |

hey dude ... i understand, but you just gotta let it go! :)
nude challenges come up maybe once a year ... that still leaves you with 200 other challenges you can enter.
instead of ranting about it, go down to your local government office and ask them for specific information relating to photographers whether it's illegal for you to shoot nude models. i'm sure you'll find, because you're 16, that all you need is a parental consent of some kind.
but like i said, don't worry about it so much mate ... there's only one nude challenge a year. there's still plenty of other challenges.
btw, don't you think you're doing yourself a dis-service by asking for an under 18s challenge? you can probably beat most of the over 18 photographers anyway ... so don't put yourself down by limiting yourself to what amounts to a challenge for kids.
if i was 16, i'd wanna be swimming in the big pool ... not encouraging segregation.
my $0.02 ... talent regardless of age mate! :)

We already beat this discussion into the ground - let's not do it again. |

How about Exclusive Open: Under 18 [topic] / Over 18 [topic]? Nobody is left out.
ps: I hate the "left out" argument - EVERYONE is unable to participate in any given challenge for any number of reasons. bfd. :)
edit to add: I didn't see this suggestion as noisemaker whining about being left out and the above comment was not directed at anyone in particular, just a sentiment.

You could always have a separate "class" in normal challenges. So you give some kind of award to the top entry (or entries) from someone under 18 or under 21 or whatever. Although doing challenges for people below a certain age as an occasional thing is cool too.
The only problem that springs to mind is getting proof of age in such cases.. anyone can sign up an account and claim they are 16.
Of course organizing stuff like this can be done as a side challenge without needing to change the rules of DPC itself.
splidge
edit: count me in for the under 37 challenge!

I am not really against it although i don't see the need. off the top of my head i can think of zoomdak Joey Lawrenceand shermy that are under 20 and have 17 combinded ribbons and have been selected as favotire photogs over 1000 times. younger people do well here all the time. many of them are better than a good portion of the adults here.
