I'm taling the wife and kid to Cologne, Germany in March.

Any recommendations for hotels, shopping, etc.?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't been there yet but when I get back to the office I can ask around and see if any of the local folks have recommendations. Then I'll probably go visit those places, too!

The Cologne Bonn airport (EDDK) would be an excellent opportunity for photos if you are into aircraft at all. It is a busy place. If you were to come back with a photo of a UPS plane, I would like to see it. I fly for UPSVAC (UPS Virtual Air Cargo) on VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Simulator) with Flight Simulator 2005 (FS9). There are sometimes a thousand virtual pilots and air traffic controllers from all over the world on there.

EDDK is the main UPS hub for all of Europe.

Just a thought, anyways ...

Thanks, I look into that.

Also, if any DPCers are around Cologne between March 8th and 15th, let me know. We can beer or something.

Been a long time since I was there, but you'll want to check out the Chocolate Museum. IIRC, there's a main drag with lots of high-end shopping; I think it was pedestrians only.

There's a river walk and, of course, the Dom Cathedral.

I'll keep the dates in mind - it's not a long trip by train for me, so maybe I could meet up with you and your lovely Mrs for at least a cup of coffee and a tour of the chocolate museum!
