I like your attitude, but I love your "MY WORLD" photo.
Worry not, you may evade from my permission any time.

Photography is an art; you taste and present what you like and want to do.
It won, people like, that is great. I respect the way the look at things, and have my own point of view. I hope this is not too much for you to accept.

Sure, I've disagreed with ribbon winning pictures so I know the sentiment...People just want to be reminded about the diversity in opinions a little gently...

What I found a little strange about this image was the eyes are too low in the frame. I'd like to have seen less forehead and more cheek.

As for whether it was 1 eye mirrored or 4 eyes cropped or 2 eyes straight. I don't give a damn, expert rules allows just about any manipulation. I don't see any problem.

I find it fascinating that I actually posted a "corrected" version of this image to see if I could spark a PHOTOGRAPHIC discussion on a subtle but interesting effect, and all that happened is that the "babblers" and the "ranters" are having sop much fun they just steamrollered it into the ground. Come ON, people :-(

Anyway, re: the "misplaced catchlight", for what it's worth here's what the image looks like with the catchlight moved and the eye "repaired":

Does anyone have an opinion as to which version is "better"? I was one of the ones who caught the discrepancy and commented on it during voting, but this was nevertheless one of my highest scores given. At the time I thought the catchlight was an irksome flaw, now I'm not so sure. It does lend a certain otherworldly effect to the whole, perhaps :-)

But of course he was wrong. He's got feet of clay just like the rest of us. Check out this one.

His comment: DNMC. Just like all the rest. However; according to his STRICT criteria it is NOT DNMC. The subject actually fills the frame.

He readily demonstrated his real self to me with his comment on this one:

But that type of comment could just be due to cultural differences.

No, it's really like this. I visited there and fell of the damn thing. I'm not going back. ;)

Oooops, sorry Robert. I was enjoying myself immensely. Your correction was superb. I much prefer the original. It seems to draw the eye...... heheheheheh

I think his dnmc votes are pretty consistent (and about 99% accurate as well). He just hasn't learned to do it without leaving a comment yet. I'm sure it won't take long.

Catchlights don't look better one way or the other. The weird way the shadows fall are more of a distraction. However taking such a literal look at the image seems to be pointless anyway. It's a nice looking piece of digital art. why dissect it.

I am sure it is " due to cultural differences" and your side of it is clearly showing.

Geez, people, settle down. I've seen more offensive insults in this thread than in anything else I've read (okay, I don't read rants).

TLHadi, you vote extremely low and you have amazingly strict standards. Fair enough. You're entitled.

Everyone else: read that part again. Just like you, he's entitled to vote how he likes without you screaming at him.

That said, TLHadi, you still haven't responded to my question: what's your point? Are you arguing that the image should be DQd? I don't think you are, but if so, there's no rule violation. End of thread.

If your point simply to complain about something you didn't like, I think you now have ample response that you may be alone, or at least in a small minority. Anything left to discuss, or is that also the end of the thread?

Thanks... This is the attitude!!... You made the point they can not see.
NO, NOT AT ALL, IT SHOULD STAY, PEOPLE LIKE IT.
I do not like it and I am in the minority, but I think there is no majority here only people acting in a dictatorship manner.

Thanks again.

I think the issue that is causing the big stink is not that you didnt like the image but that you questioned whether or not because of a technical or editing choice the image should have its placement affected after voting is over. This was the way I interpretted your inital post. That and the having to abide by the laws of physics and nature thing - that just sounded goofy.

you know you don't have to point your browser here. If you don't think that this site is ran correctly why support it?

I'm not yelling, and don't want this to turn to a rant, but it's just a thought.

See... This is what I meant... You do not like my views so you want me to leave. This is exactly the "acting in a dictatorship manner"

Oh for gawdsake.... That's not what he said. He said, "If you don't like the way things are, why do you stay here?" It's not as if you don't have options, he is saying. That's a FAR cry from saying "I don't like your views, so get lost!"

You have the same attitude only you are much older.

I'm in agreement with TIHadi on this issue. This image clearly contravenes the advertising code of conduct. It is advertised as 'eyes' and yet there is only one 'eye'. I demand a refund.
