ok just looking around, and found this

its a Nikon D1H 2.7mp dslr. Its going for $500+, now im just curious... why is a 2.7mp dslr going for $500+ When i got my XT for $800? and you can get 300D's for not alot more than that 2.7mp would go for?

Well probably because it cost 4,500 New.... guys looking to make 18% of what he paid for it?

It was Nikon's Top of the Line dSLR at the time of release. The D2 being the now "recent" sucessor. There were a coupel variations of the D1 though. The D1H released for 4,500. The D1x was 5MP and i could see maybe that catching your eye a bit more?

Sadly the 1995 Kodak DCS460 based one the NIkon N90 body was 6.2 MP!

Why Pay 25,000 for a restored classic mustang that has an original spec v8 engine with only 170 hp when i can drop that 25,000 on a 2007 Mustang V6 with Pony Package that has 230 HP....

lol but you see my point? The 5,500 Dollar version that was 5 MP would probly fetch the 500 dollars for someone looking to spend it. But I see your point on the resolution. JUst understand the D1H was the D1x's cheapo model in a sense. The guy paid alot for it new he sees only what he thinks its worth to get rid of it. Not what its worth use wise.

Plus it has a 35-70 2.8 Nikon lens with it. Not a bad price considering the glass involved.

All this gear has gone the way of the music gear. You pay $2000 and a year later somebody will give $100 for it. Don't buy gear as an investment that is for sure. The latest and greatest will be surpassed by cheaper and better.

Certainly true of digital camera bodies and point and shoots, less true for lenses. There is innovation and new models come along, but a good lens is a good lens.
