Anyone here use generic inks?
I have'nt done much photo printing but just started to give it a go, just to see the results more than anything. My ordered prints always seem ok but this is roughly the result I am getting from my cheapo Epson 480sxu printer..using generic inks!

Using sRGB settings in the printer or Adobe RGB from CS2 both the same.
Any comments, am I asking too much from my printer with these inks?
Cheers,
Paul.

Color calibration will be different, not only for every printer, but for every ink and paper combination as well. A print profile fixes this, but you need a different one for every ink and paper combination. Alternately, the print driver may have controls that allow you to tweek the color a bit.
The roughest part will be when you change the ink -- generics may not have the quality control of name brands. Each ink cartridge is likely to need the color adjusted individually.

Thanks David,
I may splash out on the real stuff...more expense.
Your explanation seems to point out the differences very well.
I suppose you get what you pay for.
Paul.
