Does one have better glass?
Is one built better?

Sigma Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG $329

Tamron Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto AF 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) $379

Not sure about the Pentax versions but based on popularity and thread comments of the past the Canon version of the Tamron is the hands down favorite.

I don't know anything about the Sigma, but it can't possibly be as good as the Tamron 28-75, which is hands down one of the very best quality/value packages in the dSLR lens world.
