Ok i know the title makes no sence but hear me out. Ive seen lots of images that i thought were GREAT but were voted poorly because of the DMNC thing. In some cases people dont fully understand the challenge stated, and other times i hear of people who enter a lovely image in the wrong challenge and dont realize in time. I think it might be a cool idea to have a challenge where you can show off your images that were great but DMNC in previous challenges. Thoughts? |

Oh, so re0enter shots that were DNMC for other challenges? hmmm, could be an interesting study to see how a previously scored image would score had it not been for the challenge description.

Don't be surprised to find the same 'DNMC' comments in a DNMC challenge.
The Free Study removes the lynching. Any themed challenge will further it (under prevailing conditions).
A consolation: I don't feel any 'beautiful images go to waste' or go 'unappreciated'. They are, instead, appreciated by the few rather than by the many. And, to be sure,
the 'few' I'm talking about are not the same few who have made up their minds before considering what they're looking at.

That's funny to think about. This sounds a lot like a which came first chicken or egg thing. If a DNMC image is in a DNMC challenge then it meets the challenge, and would be no longer DNMC, which would make it DNMC for the DNMC challenge therby it would then qualify as DNMC, and be blah balh ect ect ect Haa Ha and Ha : P

I'd like to see a completely open challenge every once in a while.
No rules.....shoot it and edit it any way you want.
Then the only limiting factor is whether or not the majority of voters like it.
And any vote that comes in DNMC, "Doesn't meet the spirit", or such similar rhetoric is *NOT* considered a valid vote
In racing, they occasionally have these "Run what ya brung" type of races.
It's you, and whatever you got versus the rest of 'em and whatever they got.
They're often interesting and the race doesn't always go to the swift and the strong.

What NikonJeb suggested might be interesting about 3 times per year. In essence, a "best of the last 4 months" challenge with no editing rules. The only rules that I can think of that would make this right would be the "one capture" and "shot within the time frame" rule and enter it between "date/date" rule.
The 30 day "Where You Live" going on now is much like that, but there is no voting, and you get to post notes and identify yourself with the images. That challenge has caused a lot of communication between the participants, and I feel that it has been a very enjoyable and good thing for all involved so far. Many of the images there are just snapshots to fill the days quota, but some have been excellent as well. All of them are very interesting by their content.

I've got 3 DQ's - one for rules violation, one was a ToS DQ, the other was a self-DQ :-) But, I know how some members would react.

yeah, i saw your 'polished tool' shot ... i thought it was pretty good, shame about the DQ really.
but that's the kinda shot that should be given a second chance. an amnesty if you will ... let it be the tallest midget syndrome if it must ... LOL

Yeah, but I dunno if I could find the original to rework it. Nor do I think it was good enough to rework.
But, I did take advantage of the Take Two challenge to redeem myself.

I'd like to see more challenges like the Take Two challenge . If you'll notice Larus rebounded from a DQ in that challenge too and took the blue.
