did you look at the rating scale?
i don't know why i am wasting my time with this thread. |
from the personal experience, all my images rated 8 have been featured on their homepage, but not my 9 |

I have a question. I signed up for Photographers direct and got accepted. The problem is that I didn't pay attention to the part that said you need to have a camera thats 6 MegaPixels. The photos I have now were taken with a camera that were 5 MegaPixels. Should I still submit those photos??? or will that be a serious problem??
(The new camera I'm getting will be at least a 6 MP camera)

they have a 3000px minimum requirement. if you can upsize you're uncropped 5MP photos to 3000px or more on the longest side - without degrading the print quality you might be alright. i would think anyway. they have the requiements because they don't know what people will need to use the images for, and don't want their customers finding suitable images that don't meet the size requirements needed. they are trying to keep their customers happy, and their 'product' needs to be consistent - so to speak.

Thanks...It'll be no problem upsizing the photos to meet the pixel requirements. The photos i have now are 2592x1944 at 180 ppi. I was planning on putting them all to 300 ppi which would fit the requirement with no problem. |

That's almost doubling the size of your image - you might want to be careful about how you upsample, and be critical of how it turns out.
I think that the 3000 pixel lower limit is there for a reason: smaller images do not meet picture buyer's requirements, and upsampling is not a cure-all for this (otherwise photographersdirect would indicate that smaller images were acceptable). It may be better to wait for your new camera rather than upload images that might give you a bad name with picture buyers.

I agree. You should wait or upsize them to just meet the 3000px size, which would have much less impact on the image quality.

you may want to read the finer print - it's possible they also don't want you to upsize them at all. there preference is probably NOT.
at 6MP my 10d barely fits there requirements without any cropping - what you are talking about doing will likely not fly - bare minimum it gets you a PD rating of 3 or 4 - not good...

What I think I'm going to do is upsize an image to meet the 3000 minimum and email them to see if it's okay. That will save me alot of problems.

Just curious...What do you do when you crop an image and it's under the 3000 pixel size? Do you resize it then to fit the dimensions?
