It's a really cool plug-in that is HIGHLY overused... It smooths skin tones to the point of looking like plastic (see current Nude challenge for examples).

ETA: It's actually noise reduction software, but has a by-product of oversmoothing skin!

I don't know about Neat Image but Noise Ninja has a stand alone version and a plug-in version. This would work great in your case.

It can be over used but can also be used tastefully.

Its purpose in life is or was originally noise reduction. You can try a free download at neatimage.com, but the full-version is way better.

Neat Image is a filter designed to reduce visible noise and grain in photographic images produced by digital cameras and scanners. Neat Image is indispensable in low-light (indoors, night, astro) and high-speed (sport, action) photography. It is a tool for both professional photographers and digital image processing enthusiasts.

When used properly, or in moderation, it can be a huge help in reducing image noise, and also helps reduce the file size, which can be handy when compressing an image under 150k for a challenge.

So, I read thru the rules for Advanced and Expert Editing - I'm not seeing that using NEATimage for a challenge entry is allowed or disallowed. Anybody know for sure?

Allowed. Frequently overused and abused, but perfectly allowed in basic, advanced and expert editing. May god be with you.

Just make sure you set the settings really really really really low... it is better to do it in incriments than just slap the image with vaseline I find...

Yes, I have done it too... but hey, in my defense, I am just learning PS :P

LOL

That's more fun to do during the picture taking rather than in post process :-P
