I need to replace the battery on my IBM T40. I've looked on ebay and elsewhere on the web, and prices range from $50 to $200. Just looking for some recommendations on where I might want to buy from. Obviously I want to keep costs as low as possible, but I don't want to buy something that will light my computer on fire.
Any suggestions are welcome...

I wouldn't buy anything that wasn't made by IBM/Lenovo for my ThinkPad.
Batteries/AC Adapters for the T40 at NewEgg.com
Also check out www.tigerdirect.com and www.pcconnection.com. I have been happy with their service but NewEgg is my favorite.

i can only suggest that you get one directly from IBM, or any other reputable shops that wont turn their back on you IF,
in unfortunate situations, the battery melts itself along with your T40...
with the recent problems with batteries, I wouldn't take a risk
by buying through eBay!
