A couple of months ago I created a thread to share a good photo outing that produced 3 very good scores for me.

Here's another.

On a recent business trip to Norway, my good friend Trollman and I embarked on a Sunday drive. We headed West from the town of Kongsberg. This was early December, not much daylight time in Norway. We had usable light form about 10:30 AM until 3:00 PM. We kept driving West over a couple of mountain passes until we ran out of light, about 160 miles from where we started. This little trip yielded the following:

Sky challenge - 6.3931

December Free Study - 6.7898

Best of 2006 - 6.8810

The last 2 made my top 5.

Not bad for a Sunday drive.

I remember that first one in the challenge and couldn't believe it only scored 6.3! It still blows me away.

My thoughts: Norway should have to go into challenges with a handicap like the Iceland photogaphers :) (just kidding . . . sort of)

Those are AWESOME, and I would consider it a very good day for a Sunday drive if I turned up photos like that!

Thanks Sandy, if you're intereseted there is a link in the Photographer's Comments to the tutorial for making a star field in PhotoShop. It was really fun to do.

I think the image appeared too dark an a lot of people's monitors. I expected a higher score too.

Congrats - an excellent outing! I have three shots either in or going in from a single outing - one of which may be a personal best but have to wait and see. The other two will be mid-5's but still good shots in my book. It's nice when you have a day like that, isn't it? Looks like it was a perfectly lovely drive.

Thanks, I'll be sure to look for your new PB!
