Probably a stupid one, but...

I have version 1.5.0.9 and just noticed there is a "2" out now. I click the "update now" and it doesn't find any updates. What's the best way to upgrade? Will just downloading the new FF2 upgrade my current install or will it create another, separate install?

Just download it and install it over the 1.5 version. Has worked for me.

I believe 2.0 is not officially released, it's more like a beta. That's prolly why 1.5.0.9 doesn't find it automatically (yet). I'm personally waiting until it's officially released, since I have no current issues with 1.5.0.9

firefox 2 is out of beta ... i've been using it for a while.

download it here: //www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

it should install straight over the top of your old build and update any compatible addons.

:)

It was officially released October 24th I believe.

Interesting... why doesn't 1.5 query me for an update?

Thanks guys. I knew it had been in beta but I just followed a link in someone's sig and realized it's out of beta, as Dave said above. (at least there's no mention of beta anywhere in the release notes)

Thanks for the tips. I will go get it now!

I don't think they force updates for upgrades that are not stability/security related.

I don't remember it telling me when it went from .whatever to 1.whatever so it may be that it doesn't tell you to upgrade when it's a whole version different. Just a guess.

I'm running 2.0.0.1. Download 2.0 last week and yesterday it said there was an upgrade ready.

Ditto here; been running 2.0.0.1 for a couple months actually.

I like the "close tab" feature on the tabs rather than in the corner. I see this is a new IE feature as well. It also asks about subscribing to RSS feeds right in the window, which is nice...though I don't really use feeds.

I didn't know FF 2.0 was Beta. Maybe that's why I have some little problems with it.

One *really* nice feature is the ability to tell FireFox to "always ask" for a destination for a downloaded file.

Spellcheck (or spell check as it tells me) is pretty nifty, too.

Who here uses FF 2.0 on an intel mac?

I get problems will the scroll bar on the right. I can't click and hold to scroll the page up and down.

Also, media players don't always function correctly.

I'm on windows, but there are scroll options under Options/Advanced/General Tab. See if there's anything there to help. I have auto- and smooth-scrolling both checked.
