A friend gave me a "slave flash" (small disc attachment to a flash). How do I use this? He said it works along with my camera flash..in sync with the timing of the body flash.
Set-up = camera body flash set...slave flash attached to another flash bulb - turned on...a sensor "READS" the body flash and adds extra flash to the shot. What do I do with this? I feel like I am in info overload from my friends who seem to try to help me! AHHHH

SLave Flashes are usualy used to say side flash something....

You can take a flash mount it to the side of what your shotting in addition to the light you have to offset shadows or provide side lighintg.

You can even use a good flash to set of groups of flashes containging 4 or 5 flashes per group. This can be used to light objects from multiple angles... provide weird lighting effects and whatnot.

Options are limtied with only one slave but theres alot that can accomplished with just those few options.

Slave flashes are usually fired by the camera body or the hotshoe flash on the camera. With nikon an SB80 firing two SB600's is an example.
