just wondering if anyone can tell me how to change a photo to black and white but leave certain parts of it color? I can't seem to figure it out. Thanks |

another option is to duplicate the same image into another file, convert one to greyscale, and place it back over the color image (of course centering it perfectly by holding shift). Then create a layer mask on the top one, and paint through what you want in color! |

Though if doing this for challenges, this method is only allowed in advanced and expert editing. |

there's an easier way to do this. layer -> new adjustment layer -> channel mixer
now click monochrome and use the slides to make a nice b/w image. after that, use masking (automatic when using adjustment layers) with black brush to mask off the detail you want b/w |
