Last week, in this thread, I asked about shooting Dance Studio Pictures. It being my first time shooting these kinds of pictures, I was a little bit nervous. But I think the results turned out pretty good.

We spent all day Saturday shooting (10am to 8pm). I had one gal who helped with handling the money, recording the order of the pictures taken, answering questions, and then my daughter helped me out with handling the kids (posing, getting their attention, etc).

Here's a sampling of some of the individual photos:

And some of the team pictures:

I even involved the teachers in getting some pictures done:

All told, I shot over 800 pictures. And narrowed those down to about 270 pictures which will be going into event folders with team plus individual pictures put together.

If interested, more of the pictures can be seen here.

Very nicely done stuff. Actually, I think you gave me some incredible ideas about how to expand my sales. Thanks for that.

These look great! The lighting is well done. There are only 2 minor things I notice...

- The seam running down the middle of the backdrop (maybe where you have 2 backdrops meeting?).
- I love the shot in the mirror but the left side has fallen off the backdrop - there doesn't look to be any crop room which is a shame.

Good work...love the poses and use of the mirror.

Lovely work.

Far superior to anything I can currently do so I'm out of line commenting; but I'll have a go. I notice that the catch-lights in the eyes are superior in the models facing to the cameras right. I love your individual pictures with the models facing left; but in some of the group shots the way the light hits the different models faces is very noticable - not an issue in it's own right, but would love to see the catch-lights.

Yeah, I agree. There was no time to iron the background. But none of these are edited... I just figured I'd fix it in post. :-)

Those were just fun shots of the teachers. During some of the down time, in between classes, I pulled the teachers aside and said here, let's try something. I'm kinda hoping the teachers will buy a few of the photos, but it was never really planned that way.

I agree. And I think if I were working with only one class for an hour, I would have taken the time to ... move the props, change the lighting, try different poses, work with different setups, etc. But with 250 students in 22 classes, it ended up being a lot more "cookie cutter-ish" than I would have liked. But, yes, I agree with what you're saying.
