		| | I would say the Canon Speedlite 580EX - but it's also kind of expensive. 
 You can get almost the same performance from the Sigma EF-500 Super DGII - and for around 40% less. (at least here in Denmark it's about 40%)

 Just to clarify you are talking about the 580 being used as a master flash......I just wanted to make sure Roland (ak2007) knew that the 430EX CANNOT be used as a master flash

 But the Sigma EF-500 DG Super can be used as a master for sure with other Sigma flashes, but I'm not sure about Canon ones as well.  The Sigma does have a built in optical trigger (like studio strobes) which will let you use it with any flash although you lose all auto functions.

 Yes, the sigma can be used as master for the canon flashes (that support wireless E-TTL).  I have had the sigma mounted on my 5D running a slave 580.
