maybe you need to Google for the definition before you enter your next challenge. I had no idea what procastination meant, just copied the word in my google bar, and behold!! there was the definition!

People can be dickheads on here and to tell you the truth I am not the least bit surprised!

Wait I forgot something, actually about 40% of the people I have judged on here are better at PhotoShop than they are at photography. That in itself gives them little room to open their traps.

I came here to better learn how to use my digital camera and PS.

Otherwise, why be here?

If you don't like PS, why buy a digital camera at all?

For me, PS enables me one more chance to get that pic I saw in my mind's eye when I snapped the shutter, downloaded what I got and went,"Ohh...."

With film, it ain't like that for those of us who didn't have access to a darkroom.

That whole PS editing ain't photography argument really doesn't fly too well on a website named DIGITAL Photography Challenge.

As it shouldn't.

BTW, I think if you look through the best of the best on the site favorites, you'll see that the ones that have really done the best, and garnered the most high scores, praise, favorites, and appreciation are the ones that are PSed carefully and selectively by really talented individuals in such a manner that you cannot tell.

While he may have been "here" since 2003, he has only entered 5 times, three of those in 2003. He's posted 11 times in the forums, and if you you look at his last 10 forum posts, most of them were in 2003. Length of time may not be noob-ish, but activity certainly is.

Gosh guys, don't some of ya'll ever cut anyone any slack?

When some one comes across a bit aggressively in the forums, if you resond calmly, that is generally the direction it takes. But, if you get up in arms about everything, and immediately get defensive, it gets all nasty.
Hey, wait aminute, it's like that in real life too. And it really does't matter who is "right" or "wrong" or who "struck first."

Play nice.

To be honest. I learned a lot just starting this thread... How can you not love the people here :) You guys really make me laugh and I love it. Yes I have been here since 2003, But I have been inactive, Only 3-4 challenges :) because I like to read and watch the good pictures.

But, don't get me wrong, you people I don't know in person, I only saw your comments. So I never attacked you guys or your expertise as a photographer... only your comments. Now I feel very informed about the portrait mode and can't wait to send another black and white trash bag photo to piss you guys off more hahaha. I'm not a photographer, but sometimes I feel like one when I'm looking at a photograph that looks okey. It somehow just died in the comment section :)

A lot of trueth to this statment, although processing is also a very important part of photography, but when processing makes the photo what it is photography then becomes more art that life captures.

I think I'd like to sum up this whole thread so that we can carry on.

Zeolite took a photo he believes met the challenge criteria. He now understands that the voters do not agree with this. He feels that he didn't learn anything however because there was limited information on the actual photo itself.

The voters however feel that they have given him useful information. Perhaps not on the photo itself but rather on its relevance to the challenge.

To wrap up? Lets all go to Zeo's photo and provide constructive criticism on the photo itself, forgetting the context of the challenge (since its over).

Ohhh I HAVE to do a photo like that! Maybe we can get Judi idnic and xXxscarletxXx in on it too. Although that would mean a trip to Australia and facing Judi...that might be a little frightening 0.o

So maybe I'll just do it solo :)

Someone who has clearly mastered english language profanities can surely be held accountable for understanding what portrait means and submitting a relevant photo.

This would happen to the best photog on the site, if they were to post a photo of a building in a portrait challenge, post a color photo in a black and white challenge, post a round photo in a square challenge ect...

They were not picking on you because you were new, they were picking on you because you made a mistake by entering a building in a portrait challenge.

You would have recieved your positve feedback if you would have entered this in the free study.

I did read some of the comments however and they were a bit wise-guy, and I understand how somebody would be like "no crap I posted the wrong photo, I get it already!" Best thing to have done would have been to just withdrawl the images when it was discovered it was not a challenge photo.

Wow, I don't beleive it. You didn't even get one 10. Usually everyone gets at least one 10.

Sucks for you, but keep on shooting. At least you didn't get the brown ribbon.

Entering a wrong image on DPC is like trying to dance in order to get on American Idol. You will probably end up on TV but only as comic relief.

Let's face it everyone gets some lousy scores and comments - that's part of the risk of entering a competition. You entered an average photo that didn't meet the challenge, again that is part of it. It is your responsiblity to do so, if not the voters have no way of knowing if you didn't understand. It's time to move on, forget it and get on with the next challenge or sign off, after all it really is your choice.

I gave your shot a 1, along with 79 other souls. Given the challenge and the fact that you received some 279 votes it's hard to argue with that.

Funny thing about this whole thing though is that people come out of the woodwork to give you a DNMC comment.

My most commented challenge is almost the exact same as yours. An early challenge where I did not read the challenge carefully. I got a truckload of comments. It's funny how when it is blantantly obvious when you have a DNMC everyone (in the smallest sense) wants to leave a comment. Great news is you won't ever see comments from half of these people again, because they only like to comment on DNMC.

Just take it in stride and have fun.

That is so true! If you screw up, everybody is excited to tell you 1000 times how stupid you are...lol

Sometimes the Ă¢€˜This comment was helpful' checkbox doesn't quite cut it. There are comments I would love to tag as DNUC Ă¢€“ "Did not understand comment".

One person left me a note - in Russian. I had to look it up to find out it was a criticism. English is already NOT my second language, please donĂ¢€™t make it any more complicated for me ;)
