I keep both eyes closed, maybe that's why I take such lousy photos!

I shoot right eyed, but keep left open...helps avoid getting hit by trucks, kids on bikes and irate shoppers with rampaging trolleys.

I've used my left eye to shoot for the past 30 years, why should I stop now?

It just doesn't work with my right eye.

The only time it's ever been a problem is when I have had occasion to use some of the older Nikon film cameras (F2's I believe). On those cameras, to switch on the meter, you would have to move the film advance lever back so it protruded about 1/2". It was in the perfect spot to jab you in the right eye when you brought the viewfinder to your left eye.

I've never even thought about this or the issues that could arise from using the left or right eye.

I use my left eye and notice a little grease on the LCD every now and then, I just wipe it off.

I am a leftie also and I have tried hard to use my right eye. The right is better as you can overlay the frame over a real view if you keep both eyes open. You can see a little more out of the right hand side of the camera as a leftie though. The smears, well, just ignore them or get an extender.

The only problem I have encountered is that my nose will occassionally hit the self-timer button.
