Anyone hear about Howard Stern's campaign to get his listeners to vote for Sanjaya?
I hope Sanjaya goes soon but with Howard's listeners supporting him, he may just win! |

Why do I watch this crap? Dunno, but I do.
As far as Sanjaya, god I hope he goes soon! I doubt it's a 'Howard' thing though. Think about it - he's Indian. What's one of the biggest industries in India? Call Centers!! |

Who keeps voting for him? I know it's just a big joke now, the morning show here proudly announces how many times they call & vote for him (encouraging all of Austin to do the same), just because they think it's funny. |

If they don't change the format of this show soon, it's not going to last much longer IMO. Yes, it's great being able to vote for your favorite singer/performer, but it's getting out of control with those that want to alter the results just for the heck of it (i.e. - vote for the worst, etc...)
I really wish they'd give the judges a vote on some weighted scale - say, the judges votes are worth 50% and the public votes count for the other 50%. Something!

I agree! This season has become a popularity contest not a singing contest. Maybe they could go with 70% pubic vote and 30% judges vote. |

I also find it hard to believe that 30 million votes can be logged in a two hour period. That would equal 4167 votes per second for the two hour period. |

I agree, During the first two seasons of Idol, We tried to vote nearly every week via the phone, After about 10,000 redials I never got through once, Always a busy signal.
This year is totally out of control. At the very least FOX network should step in and do something about it. Perhaps limit the voting to 1 vote per phone number. You can not vote for the president 10 times, you do not get to vote here at DPC more than once.
Why do they allow the vote as many times as you like? I think it is because the Big AT&T sponsor contract the more votes you cast the more money the sponsors make. So in reality It doesn't matter who sings the best, the only things that matter are that FORD AT&T and FOX make loads of money.
Idol is going to fizzle out fast if things keep going the way they are. I am getting fed up, each week it is like watching an NFL game get blown by constant bad calls by the officials. It PMO!!!!

Well i also try to watch it, but few minutes in, and i get bored and change to something else. This season is damn boring.

I believe he shall be out this week.
But i do not think its an indian call center effect. Call center people have their job to do, no body has this much of time.
I am indian and I would not vote for him.
In fact I would not vote for most of them, they are almost all crap (sorry i am comparing with last year).
And for why sanjaya is still here, i think it is american factor, amricans have neck for keeping useless people around (example Bush).

I think that number of votes is possible. This week I voted for 4 contestants, each getting 5 votes. That's 20 from one person. My wife tossed in another 10 votes. There are millions of people tuning in. Some vote more, some less. As for busy signals, etc... I haven't had hardly any issues with that, especially if you wait an hour or so before voting.
Yes, I agree that the number of votes isn't going to be limited - there is a lot of money being made here by the sponsors and others. Do they actually make money from regular phone calls (i.e. household land line) or is it all being generated by the text messaging? I think the cash is with the texting.

I̢۪m very disappointed with this season of American Idol. I feel they are two maybe three singers that are good to very good and this sanjaya thing (I'm not even going to give him the benefit of Capping his name) may take a dream away from someone that deserves it.
A good example is here, where I live, a local radio stations morning host is asking everyone to vote for sanjaya so that he will win. This talk radio host is hoping this will make fox and American Idol rethink the way they allow voting. The problem with this is a singer that deserved to win could have their dreams crushed because of vote fraud. How many other stations TV or radio across the country is doing this? How many websites are doing this? Votes attempted to prove a point to fox/American Idol is not worth crushing someone̢۪s dreams.
I think they should charge $1.00 a vote and all proceeds should go to charity. I know the amount of votes would drop but what would $30+ million dollars a week do for charities? Even if the amount of votes dropped to 10 million a week, what would $10 million a week do for charities? A lot!
Just my 2¢

6 degrees of separation...Sara Burgess, a contestant this season on AI, is getting married this Friday - I'm shooting the wedding, a very small ceremony.
She made hollywood, but was cut once there. Her contract is up in August and she's got a CD deal in the works. The cover for the CD will be shot in colorado - the photog is getting $400/hour for 6 hours for the shoot.
Her senior pic I shot
other than when she was on, I don't watch the show.
