I have been experimenting with using only varied blended (overall) brightness layers (Basic Editing Rules) to create more vivid and dynamic images without using selective layers in PS.

This is one of my results.

Sun Dried Tomatoes

What do you think?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean here. You mean you are processing several different brightness/contrast adjustment layers, stacking them on top of each other, each in normal mode, then varying the opacity of each? And how does this differ from making ONE such adjustment layer set to the average of all of them? I mean, I haven't tried it, but off the top of my head my reaction is that it won't accomplish anything unless you also change the layer blending modes. In that case, you can accomplish a LOT, but it wouldn't be basic-legal.

As to your tomatoes example, it's certainly rich but it seems very harsh to me.

Oh ... I was changing blending modes ... some screen ... some multiply ... so that is not Basic Editing legal? ... I thought you could do that if you don't go selective with the layer grab in the first place.

At any rate ... I guess it would be ok for Advanced then, at least and I like how it makes the image "punchy".

Thanks for taking the time to comment.
