So The Aligator Farm is a tourist attraction and conservationist society in St. Augustine, Florida. Link I hang out there a LOT on weekends, I have a photographer's pass, so I can get in anytime I like for free - even before opening hours (if I'm ever up that early). They sell a lot of photographer's passes, I always see other shooters there.

I was there today with Taylor, my daughter and one of her friends, we were shooting "wildlife". :P

Anyway.... I'd heard a few weeks ago that the MythBusters Link (TV Show) had filmed a show there. Tonight, while I was sitting here downloading my shots from today.... the show aired!! LOL I'm cracking up. God I wish I'd been there the day they shot the show, THAT would be some fun pictures.

I would show some of my shots from today, but I haven't decided yet what I'm going to use for challenge.... :)

I have heard about this place but have never been out there. I just checked out the website (thanks for the link!) and definately need to plan on visiting it this year.

Honestly I could care less about the aligators, I go for the natural rookeries that are sooooooooooo full of native birds. The BEST time to go is March when all of the birds are nesting, but any time is good to shoot herons, ibis, cranes, egrets and storks. They're not captive in any way, they just choose to roost there..... for over 100 years now. Its a lovely place to shoot. Let me know if you're going to be there one weekend, I would love to join you.

We should do a GTG in honor of the show. :)

I just watched that episode last night too. Pretty neat place you got there, lucky! That Hindenburg thing was way cool too.

I saw that they busted the myth of a gator chasing you....in a "Park," with well fed gators. i want to see it in the wild or along the Nile. :)

It's been plenty shown with wildlife. Crocs just won't run... plenty of animals come right to them with no effort on their part.

Most of what Mythbusters does is cater to old-wive's tales and urban myths. Everybody knows that they're bunk before they start... they just try and show an example to prove it.

That's not true at all. Plenty of the "myths" on that show have been confirmed, and a bunch more are plausible. Oh yeah, and Kari is HOT! :o) I remember the Mentos / Diet Coke episode. When she mentioned they did that in the studio during her shoot for FHM magazine, I just HAD to go to my computer and do a Google image search for her. I found the picture below right away--nice!

But again, the plausible and confirmed myths are all pretty much known up front. The croc episode included the Hindenburg myth... right from the start it was clear what the result was. Yes, the paint was part of it, but you can't simply dismiss the hydrogen and say it had no effect.

Same with the magic bullet tests, and the flying emperors chair, and the log cannon, and... the result is always clear up front. There's rarely any surprise in their outcomes.
