Well, the 18-200VR and the 17-55 are valid replacements, but the other two would be complimentary to the kit lens. The 18-200 is a relatively slow lens at longer focal lengths, and though the VR does compensate, it does nothing to stop subject motion. VR is darn useful, though, at focal lengths longer than about 70mm, and can be useful at short focal lengths for static subjects.
Since you say that you'll be replacing the kit lens, rather than supplementing it, I'd suggest staying with one of these two zooms. Which one will depend on your needs. Not being a Nikon expert, I'll defer to others as to the minutiae of lens performance between your choices. |
