Or does anybody else think that Apple is going to make a mainstream return in the computer industry and gain more market share because all of their consumer electronics are getting so good. I mean look at that new i-pod phone, and Apple TV. I think it will be the consumer products that drive the future of their computers, and not the other way around. Very exciting stuff.

I like Apple's products, and yes I see them gaining more market share in large part because it is trendy to own an iWhathaveyou over the same piece of equipment made by someone else.

However, I don't see Apple creating the future of consumer electronics. As nice as their products are, and as easy as they make them to use, I can't think of any way in which Apple has been an innovator. Everything they've put out has been an idea created by someone else. Enhanced? Glitzed up? Sure, but creating truly new technologoies isn't their bag.

There's truth to router's comments, but it's too simplistic to say that Apple doesn't innovate. Apple took the GUI from Xerox and applied their now-legendary eye for design and created the first consumer GUI. They took the idea of a portable MP3 player and designed an icon, the iPod. Now they're apparently doing the same thing to the phone/mobile internet device/iPod. This is a company has been able to create products that appeal to users by designing products that people just want to own.

Ya, but you have to admit that itunes while maybe a stolen idea, is done so much better than other places. And now being able to download movies is really cool. I am writing this from an ibook that my school has. I also own several other laptops. This ibook is by far the nicest laptop I have used.

I guess you are right though. Bill Gates stole from them, but now they just steal from everybody else.

That new phone is seriously cool however. That is the first thing like that I have wanted in a long time. Very nice.
