I'd like to get a case to store all my photographic equipment... My lenses and flashes always end up all over the place because i don't have an assigned spot for them. Also, if i decide to go for a photoshoot at some point it's nice to be able to bring a hard case with ALL my stuff and not worry about forgetting some lens or flash.
I laid out my camera lenses and flashes on the table and they occupy about
16" x 19" x 7" of space. So I figure that's the size requirement i have for the interior of the case...
Can anyone suggest some cases from BH photo?
What are the good brands?
Has anyone tried the Pick n' Pull interior? or is the padded dividers method better?
Thanks

| How about a toolbox? It would come with its own shelf for smaller pieces (like memory cards, filters, batteries etc), and you could make your very own custom-made divider layout with foam. |

If you don't want to (or can't) spend the money on a camera backpack, get a regular school backapck and wrap each item in some cloth. If you can spend the money, I use the Tamrac 5258. Fits my 7D, 70-200, 28-75, 50, 15-30, flash and all the little things (spare cards, batteries, etc) with PLENTY of room left over.

I'm looking for something primarily for storage, no carying...
So i have my eye on this:
Pelican with Padded Dividers
And this:
Pelican with Foam
Does anyone have experience with the Foam?
And are there any other good companies with such products? |

Not exactlly what you have in mind, but I found a nice wicker "dresser" that I painted and cleaned up a bit - it now sits in my office and the drawers are used for cameras, lenses, owners manuals, receipts, extra cables, etc.... a place for everything and it looks nice in my home. :)

I have the Pelican 1620 with the Pick and Pluck foam. I think it is a great case and tough as nails. It also is vey heavy but I expected that. I purchased ity from Bossand would do business again in a minute. I found the price to be half of what I would have paid in a camera store. A caution if you fly with it is you'll get your luggage inspected each time as it appears you're transporting assautlt rifles
or something. I've gone through two locksets so far as I suspect they like to victimize pelican cases becuase of what they are. That being so, the case will protect you from damage but not the potential problem of some luggage jerk getting in to your case a ripping you off. I'm mixed on whether the use it as check-in luggage again and may just save this thing for road trips etc. Hope that helps |
