I know it was much discussed but don't remember the results. Is HDR legal in Advanced Editing? I did do a forum search... but hdr and rules yields way too much reading...

"HDR" of a single exposure is allowed in advanced editing. But true HDR (multiple exposures combined and processed using HDR) is only allowed in Expert Editing

True HDR (using more than one exposure) is not legal except under special rule sets.

Under Advanced Editing rules it is possible to fudge it a bit, and convert a single RAW file multiple times, each converted to a different exposure. This works well as long as the original RAW file was able to capture the dynamic range of the scene.

The closest to HDR legal under Basic Editing rules is the use of the Shadow/Highlights tool in Photoshop CS and above.

BTW I had an email exchange with PM support today, because I am having problems getting PM to load a file if you start it by double clicking on a CR2. Does that work for you? If I double click a CR2 from explorer, PM starts, but it doesn't load the file. If I the click another CR2 in explorer, it starts another instance of PM.

Also BTW, they asked me a follow up question and when I replied I mentioned to them that it would be very nice, in the future, if PM would automate single RAW HDR. In other words, load a raw file, and let it do the three conversions in temporary file space and combine them. It may not be that effective, but I still like to try it on some files, and that feature would make it easy to try and judge for yourself.
