I calibrated my monitor tonight using the Spyder2Express software and gizmo. The monitor looks great, but now I have a question about Photoshop.
When I go to the preferences in CS2 and tell it to use the new color profile, I get a warning when I open an image telling me that the image's embedded color profile (Adobe RGB (1998)) does not match the current RGB working space (Spyder2) and will be discarded.
Have I hosed this up somehow? I recognize that the color profile is coming from the camera, and should I just be ok with it being discarded in favor of the new calibrated profile, or should I have left the default color profile (It was the sRGB one) in the preferences of CS2?
How will this affect images I edit in CS2 and then view in Windows or on the web?
Hope there's help out there, because I just realized how out of my depth I am here. (I haven't even gotten to the printing color profiles yet. . . ) :) |

SetPhotoshop to the profile YOU want it to be, based on what you are shooting pics for. I have mine on Adobe RGB, because that is pretty much what (alot) of companies use and it is a decent sized space. AND I LIKE IT. Alot of people use the sRGB, because (alot) of other companies use it, and it is "web ready."
No one else will have your monitor profile...that is for your monitor, that's it. If you want to get good results across different areas (printing, stock, etc.) you need to use a "standard" colorspace. If you are printing your own and don't care, use what ya want. :)
