What is the different between working in different modes (RGB, CMYK, Lab, and so on)?
Does anyone know off hand where I can learn more about all these modes? |

Computer screens use the RGB colour space, whilst some of the commercial printers use a 4 colour pigment ink set (CMYK). Not sure about Lab though.

RGB is the usual color space I work in.
I have converted to CMYK when printing on an HP 5500 plotter.
The only time I have used Lab was a first step to convert to black and white. |

Here is a good primer on color spaces. There are several parts to the linked article. If you really want to understand color spaces and color management, pick up Real World Color Management by Bruce Fraser. |
