Certainly a good point Gordon. Additionally, Mac seems to have plenty of trouble maintaining compatibility with previous versions of their OS, it would be highly unlikely that they would have things worked out to the point where you could install photoshop on it.

I asked the gimp writer if he thought about porting to Windows Mobile 2003 and he basically said 'no'.

There is a program called Pocket Artist which allows almost all of the functionality of Photoshop for Windows Mobile, but it's REALLLLLLY slow. I have 75MB of RAM free on my PDA and it quickly runs out even before I start adding layers.

Leok, there are several Windows Mobile devices that offer USB hosts.

Acer N50 (with CF and SD as well)
Fujitsu Pocket Loox 718/720 (with CF and SD as well)
Fujitsu Pocket Loox C550 (morons stripped down to a single SD card slot)
Fujitsu Pocket Loox N520/560 (yeah right, I need a GPS to find my way every single day because the places I go every day keep MOVING... yawn)
Acer N311 (same deal, idiotic removal of the CF card slot leaves you with a single slot)
Asus also has a couple but they are not recommended as battery life is poor.
There's also a CF card USB host adaptor, but I don't recommend it as I own one and it works poorly with respect to compatibility.

My loox 720 gives me a rather substantial battery life. 12 hours+ doing MP3's with the screen off and close to 8 hours banging away on my USB keyboard on Textmaker documents which are in MS Word 2003 *.doc format. I can do this on mixed English-Spanish-Chinese documents too. I can also supplement via an external battery pack (AA's)which I just remembered is lost...

Hehe, looks like the Cisco vs Apple legal battle for the 'iPhone' name could get messy... in Europe at least - article.

Cool Win Mobile does have better solutions than I was aware of. My next question : are things like the USB host port well supported by software? I know sometimes unusual features like these are simply ignored by most delelopers as they are so rare...

I don't know much about Macs. Are you saying if you go out and buy a new Mac that software from your old Mac won't work and you have to pay for new licences... or is it just a matter of a free patch so that the old software will run?
