Story of my life. Not in this one, but if I hear "too dark" one more time, I may scream.
Oh, maybe they are too dark. |

I haven't tanked, but I've dropped about a tenth... hoping that trend doesn't continue. |

Far be it from me to whine, but I may have to have a hissy fit.
I do realize I'm a bloody beginner in digital photography. However, the photo I submitted for this challenge is really nice and I'm only getting glowing comments on it. Nobody has critisized anything (I wish they would), and yet I'm hovering under 5.
Why? Why? WHY? *kicking things* |

Sorry, don't get this.
How about taking at least a little bit of responsibility for making your intentions clear in your shot before blaming voters for not doing the work?
Instead of sighing heavily and saying how unsurprising it is, I suggest learning and improving next time.
The above comes off pretty harsh, I know, but in all sympathy because I've been there myself, it's up to the photographer to tell a story, not to the viewer to extract one. Remember, too, this is a worldwide community, and things that are obvious to one group often aren't to another. That's part of the challenge. :)

I'm not happy, but I'm satisfied. It's about .08 above what I expected. :) |

To reiterate what I posted earlier:
"The description for this challenge says to "Show us what you put off doing all last year."
In my humble opinion, that doesn't have to imply that the photo needs to show procrastination in action but, rather, to show something you need to do (or do more of--in my case). This was my thinking from day one.
So, (for example), if the image is of someone chopping down a tree, then this should clearly meet the challenge. It doesn't have to be that person sleeping on a couch with a view of the tree in the background window, waiting to be cut down (which is a classic interpretation of procrastination). If we abide by the DPC guidelines for this challenge, I feel many of these photos, including my entry), fully meet the challenge criteria."

I had predicted a 5.3 on the picture and didn't want to submit it but my son liked it and wanted it in. Oh well, I agree with one commentor on the post processing that would have helped the picture... |

NO NO NO
What I mean is, if I put (for example) a french title on my photo and the voters who dont speak french dont even bother to find out the translation and comment "dont understand" ......thats my gripe...lazy

Klstover your comment has let me finally accept my score. Someone finally gets how my photograph is related to procrastination. Thank you for the comment, I'll PM you after the challenge to thank you again.

You're both toast! And I'm on the way up. A full 0.1 gain in only 24 hours. At that rate, this will be a killer score in only two weeks!

Man, this is a low scoring challenge! I'm still blown away because although I did see lots that I didn't think weren't that strong, I saw some that were really good.
Wonder if the ribbons will be won by the 6.2 range. I hope so :) (YEAH RIGHT!!!)
