and if this (or something similar) was in place, what is to keep someone from voting all categories a 1, so the end result is the same?
If they can't vote "fairly" or "accurately" using one number, it won't become so using more numbers. |
not just that, but whoever chooses the categories is dictating how to vote. that's not "fair," it's top-down control.

To me it̢۪s not how people vote but why they voted that way. Over the few years that I have been a part of this site I have come to expect the occasional low AND high vote. Most of all I have grown to respect them.
I don̢۪t believe a person should be required to comment for giving a low vote or a high vote. But there is one thing I would like to see implemented that may, just may, help photographers understand these occasional votes.
I would like to see a system set up so that if your vote were more than 2 points off the photographs final score you would receive a request for a comment. The site on behalf of the photographer would send this request and you could choose to comment or not. If you do comment it would be anonymous.
That is the only way I see that one can learn from the occasional low AND high vote and allow the voter to honestly give his or her opinion with anonymity.
Just a thought
