Hi all, I am probably being impossibly dense but I have just bought the Canon EOS 400D and I am trying to edit the images that I have taken using the software that came with the camera. However it seems that all the photos I have taken have been converted automatically to JPEG and I don't know how to convert them back to RAW (if that's even possible)or where the original RAW images are. (You can tell I am a total beginner can't you!!). I have trawled through the helpful instruction PDF that came with it to no avail. What am I doing wrong??? Can anyone help me please??

If instead of using the cable and the camera to move the photos, you can use a card reader (can be found inexpensively if youlook around) and then just moved the photos from the card to your hard drive, you wouldnt be changing the files in any way.

You probably took the pics in JPEG format to start with. Remember to set your options to RAW.

Thankyou for your replies. As you said Ignite I hadn't changed the settings on the camera to RAW. I have just managed to take and download some images in RAW and fiddled about with the editing tools, so I am feeling slightly less foolish than I did an hour ago.

I think I will invest in a card reader, as you said Di, they aren't very expensive and I don't like the thought of having my camera tottering precariously on the edge of my computer desk every time I want to download images!!
