I will get more serious or more competitive for the DPL5. I will actually print a schedule/guidelines for my improvements/goals.

Still waiting for Writeheart to introduce herself, I PM'd a "Welcome to join the Team Motley Crew" message just a minute ago. Then I'll post the Roll and soon create a NEW "DPL5 - Team Motley Crew Official Thread"

Seems unusual to start a new Season, in the middle of the year. Although I anticipated a more of a combination of seasons (Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall) to compete in. Some photographers enjoy and do well in certain seasons. Yes it's a challenge to do amazing shots of any category, at any given time of the year. Sun and rain can be staged in a studio setup.

It just would seem more fair to members from all parts of the world, to even out the Worlwide full of Opposite seasons.

I just a post from WriteHeart on TS thread, her internet is down and only able to get on for a few minutes at work, she wasn't sure when it would be fixed at this time...

Doing better than I expected!!
04/25/2007 09:23:23 PM · #511
Doing better than you expected is always a PLUS. Yay!
04/25/2007 09:25:50 PM · #512
OMG I had to share this with you guys. I don't teach on MWF and tonight they actually had to close down and evacuate my school because of reports of a suicidal woman with a gun. Geez. They did not find anyone but - what if she decides to come tomorrow. This stuff is everywhere.

My students laughed at me when I came up with a plan of what to do in case something like this happened. We'll see if they are laughing at me tomorrow.

Thanks...but the plummeting has continued, lol. now at 5.42 at 52 votes, thats about what I expected...of course too early to really tell but I predict mid to low 5's. Which is still cool with me...for now, lol.

Wow, crazy stuff huh? (the suicidal woman) too many unbalanced people in the world...hope everything goes okay tomorrow.

Where is everyone? has Whiteheart showed up? Does John have any more information?
04/28/2007 04:33:12 PM · #515
Yeah I don't know what to do about that one. John - have you heard from Writeheart? We may still need one more. I cannot remember when the signup is so maybe there is still time to hear from her.

No, I haven't heard from Writeheart, yet.

Here is the current list:

In no special order, except my name first...
Justamistere
colorcarnival
tlemetry
asimchoudhri
jackal9
dsterner

The minimum number is 5, but 7 is always better, since some emergencies may prevent some members from submitting a photo in some week. On what date is your photo probation end, colorcarnival? I think you can still signup. There aren't any rules against signing up to a team, afaik.

I'm not sure at what point should I rename this thread. Maybe tommorrow. How about calling it "DPL5 - Team Motley Crew Official Thread". As always, suggestions are welcome.

Don't forget - I will not be participating for what looks like 2 weeks. HOWEVER - the cool thing is that my suspension ends at the end of the day on my birthday! (I'm not sure if it ends at the end of May 25 or at the beginning of May 25.) But I will be practicing in the mean time. :D

I am so, so, so, so sorry for having dropped off the face of the planet :-( Forgive my silence. We live where we work and they needed to take our internet modem to fix some work related issues. It's been hopping here and I haven't had time during work to read my email. I should be getting internet back in the next week or two.

I still really want to be a part of the team. When does WPL5 officially start (when we do need to do our first submission?) I was just wondering because my home computer is where I am able to do all my photo stuff. I don't think work would like it too much if I used this computer.

I hope that I haven't caused you all too much of a problem. I am usually better at communicating than this, but that is because I have insomnia and I am usually on the internet until 2:00 in the morning. Too many things come up when I try to log-on at work.

Thanks for the extra message to remind me to talk with you all.

My Official Intro...

I've always taken pictures, but I have never been a student of photography until I just got my DSLR in January. Now I really want to learn how to take pictures (and control my camera better on manual).

I actually bought the DSLR so that I can take pictures to submit with my articles to sell more articles since I am an author. But, I have hardly written a word since I got my camera because I am loving photography too much!!!!

For my real job (for money to pay for my newly found hobby :-) I am a Director of Volunteer Ministries at a beautiful conference center located in a historic castle. Definitely a beautiful place to learn photography.

Thank you all for having me, I look forward to teaming with you and learning from you all.

Okay, Congratulations you are now a new member, after you pass the initiation test!

Just kidding no initiation required, just homework assignments, with very high pay. Oops, volunteering, I see you do that already, Great.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so I think a thousand words is worthy of a picture, too.

If anyone has any info on the DPL5 signups, let me know. The last I saw it was to be between the 1st or 7th of May?

For all new members, could you send me a PM (Personal Message), stating an email address(s) where you can be reached.

Hurry, step right up, and take a shot.
Shot Pi or Symmetry.

Very low participants for th Pi, maybe they're not hungry.
Almost all contruction of buildings, products, toys-games, and equipment are based on Symmetrical elements.

Such as a Chess Board, a Ladder/Rake, even things in nature.

Symmetry is not limited to Squares/Rectangles. It's found in Triangular Ironwork (Cieling support), Bridgework (structural support), Art/Architechture. Four aces, a pair of dress-alike, twins/triplets, all posed the same way. Table-settings, Plants and Formal Gardens, and even Buckminster Fuller's geodesic dome structures, like the "Golf-ball" at Epcot Center. Circular, spiraling, triangular, and more.

Of course anything yoiu hold up to a mirror will look symetrical, too.

Ok kids - you gettin geared up? I think registration starts tomorrow!

John - don't forget to set your alarm clock to an hour before each challenge deadline so you can stop telling us "you missed the deadline" lol. I can always mail you a clock if you like.

Asim and John - you guys need to enter for the first few weeks until I get back! We need all the entries we can get!

Deb and T - we carried the team last time with all our entries (hehe boys - hear that???) - so I know you guys will be running from the start. Don't forget to have fun!

Jack and Julie - welcome aboard and have FUN!

I will dutifully be cheering from the sidelines.

Rah rah rah! Go Team Go! Where the heck are my pom poms?
