Counting down. Two days to go!

I've got my maps. I've got my gear. Southern Utah here we come.

I'm so sorry to say that we can not make it. We are having a family emergency right now. Nothing to horrible, but enough to keep us home.
I keep closing my eyes and wishing that this was a dream and we are still going. Then I open them.
I know that this is just a hobby. (sobbing) I really wanted to go. (sobbing turning to crying)

Last post before I pack up the computer to ship it off for maintenance, an oil change and an overhaul while I'm gone. I'll packing camera gear this evening and I'll be off to the airport tomorrow morning.

I'm disappointed to see that a few have found that they will be unable to attend, but on the other hand we've picked up a few more too. I'm looking forward to meeting all of the surviving attendees this week.

Don't forget, I'm planning to arrive at Lake Powell very late Wednesday night and I'm planning on joining everybody for Horseshoe Bend on Thursday morning.

I'll post from the laptop when I arrive in Lake Powell.

Robert... you are going to have such a great time! That area has some of the most unique geology in the world! You will be in Southwestern photographic heaven!

Arrggh! I can't wait. I...must...stop looking...at this site...and pack.....

edit to add - - - Steve, isn't this near your neighborhood and stomping grounds. Surely you can make it for at least part of the GTG.

I'm in the Pacific Northwest at the moment, so is Louddog.

There are so many great photo ops in that area you will never be able to get to all of them. Sure hope someone takes some nice panoramas. Horseshoe Bend is a good panorama site (like any are). You need a wide angled or fisheye lens to get it all in. You will be looking west so early morning has shadows inside the canyon.

And... be careful and don't fall off the cliff. It is a LONG way down!

If anyone has questions about the area dsidwell and myself is very familiar with it Louddog knows more about that area than anyone. Don't hesitate to ask if you got questions.

Yeah, I am snowed-in here in Denver. I should be arriving late afternoon, early evening on Wednesday.

Been looking at the webcams, and see some slight snow on the grass down there. Only blowing rain up here North.

No, i doubt it. I am driving. I planned on spending a day in Moab before heading down. And I-70 was getting ridiculous amounts of snow. I am gonna head out first thing tomorrow. Should be beautiful deeper into the Rockies for a pleasant drive.

well, we are stuck in Longview,texas right now. Dallas'Ft. worth is closed for t'storms and we got spun here- we'll be here at least another hour. Already missed the connection to Vegas, so we'll get there when we get there.

Can someone help me out and bring 5-6 blank DVD+R or DVD-R? My laptop started acting weird and messed up all my blanks so I can't backup my shots anymore. I have 1 DVD left and with my luck it'll be a coaster too.

well I just got in and going to get some rest. I will assume the 5am departure is still on. I will be ready with my gear at the lobby or just outside at 5 am tomorrow (Thurs.)

If any plans change, I will check this thread.

I just got in at midnight, local time. I've gotta get used to this local time being different than the times being posted on the threads. I looked to see what times you guys posted to compared to my arrival time and got confused for a moment. I'm spoiled, I guess, by being used to the Eastern Time Zone.

I'm also beat. This was a long travel day for me, but I'll be in the lobby at 5:00 a.m. to meet up with the rest of you all. I sure hope the innkeepers have coffee ready over there :)

See ya in 4 1/2 hours.

Just got home.

What a great GTG! Thanks Becky for organizing this. I really enjoyed meeting everybody and had lots for fun. I will post more pics soon.

We're in Vegas now, and I've got to get started soon if I plan to take home millions. It was terrific meeting all you guys and gals. Becky, I cannot thank you enough for putting this together. This was one of the most well-organized and perfectly executed group trips I have ever been apart of. Each new day was always better than the day before. You did an awesome job keeping us herded and moving. I look forward to seeing you next year. Nik and Tom, I think you can look for us to pass through New York relatively soon. You talked me into it. Robert, we'll see you in the Keys if the dates pan out. Beau, thanks for riding up to the Grand Canyon with us. I imagine we'll head to Denver later this year. We'll bug you for a beer while we're out there. We'll talk to you guys soon!
