I hope they don't decide against doing one, the only reason I renewed my membership was so that I can submit to it...

Me too. I have held one back all year, waiting for the best of 2006. Oh well, I guess it is true that the frequency of entries has tempered it. I mean we could have been talking over 1000 entries, maybe even 2000.

Maybe they have something else planned. Like Best of 2006 by CATEGORY. Wouldn't that be more fair? Then you could only enter one of them, and the voting would definitely be easier. How can you put a portrait up against a landscape? Just a suggestion. I know last year this was discussed about breaking it up into categories. Maybe they listened.

I like this idea :)
It should be enforced!

edit:
Of course, that would mean I will have to become a member, but then itll be worth it.

Man, i want to post a best of 2006! What is the verdict here? Yea or Nay!?!?!?!
01/02/2007 10:57:34 AM · #34
there will be the best of 2006 but next month, let people "choose wisely" ... mistake can be expensive ... and stuff :-)

I have had one in mind since late spring. Hoping they do one, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they waited a week or two. I'm still cleaning up from the holidays. LOL

Happy New Year everyone.

If it makes you feel any better, I, too, had a shot that didn't fit any challenges and was before the monthly free studies, and I was saving for best of 2006, if there was one. :) :/

Just because there's no Best of 2006 posted doesn't mean there won't be one! ;-)

It would mix it up a bit if it were announced under a different set of rules, too ;)
01/02/2007 03:07:36 PM · #39
Best of 2006 - straight off the camera? ;0 -yes that's my suggestion if they're taking 'em!

Awww man, don't even go there! I've already processed mine and sized it to 720...ready to submit. Let's do it. :D

It should be a maximum of 700 pixels just to mess with Barry. ;-P
01/02/2007 03:21:03 PM · #42

If a "Best of 2006" challenge is announced how would it be looked upon to enter a picture that had already been posted in your portfolio (or one very similar)...? Or would it simply be against the rules?

The reason for asking is of course, that I joined the site late 2006 and as I wanted something in my portfolio I posted pictures from earlier this year - and among them I see possible candidates for a "Best of..."

Not against the rules, and if you go hide them REAL quick, no one may ever know! :D

You needn't delete it if your don't want to -- just move it you your Workshop folder, though you'll have to re-upload a new version as an entry anyway. Might be interesting to compare later if you change the PP at all.

Of course he needs to change the PP. Have to meet the challenge requirement of 700 pixels, wait...719 - of course those would just be maximums (I think - it's getting quite confusing). Then there's the whole file size requirment that's currently a moving target as well! :D
