hi, im taking macro photos of a diamond ring, and i was wondering how to make the whole image black and white, while just keeping one object in the shot in full color. For example, a ring, with just the diamond in color. I would really appreciate a response. Thanks.

Hi Harrison,

I'm certainly not an expert on the subject of adjusting hue and saturation for this purpose, but that is how it's done. There was a forum thread recently about it:

Desaturation Thread

Hope this helps you...

Do you know how to use levels?

If you don't this is the easiest way I believe: (not challenge legal)

-Select diamond or background depending on which is easier to select.
-If you select the diamond inverse the selection and you should have the background selected. If you selected background you're set.

-On the "Enhance bar" click and look for
-"Adjust Color"click and look for
-"Hue/Saturation" click and go to
-"Master" look for
-"Saturation" move the bar all the way to the left and it should be converted to B&W.
